Crochet Pattern – Toadstool Pouf

1421 yards worsted weight yarn (2 strands held together)

6mm hook (J)

2 standard size pillows 

1 small blanket/throw (You could also probably just use fleece cloth.)

 

 

Top of cushion:

Make an adjustable ring and sc into it 6 times around

Round 2: * 2 sc in each stitch; repeat from * around (12)
Round 3: * sc in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch * around (18)
Round 4: * sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch * around (24)
Round 5: * sc in next 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch * around (30)
Round 6: * sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch * around (36)
Round 7: * sc in next 5 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch * around (42)
Round 8: * sc in next 6 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch * around (48)
Round 9: * sc in next 7 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch * around (54)

Bottom of cushion:

Make an adjustable ring and sc into it 6 times around.

Repeat rounds 2-22 from above.
Round 23 and 24:  sc in stitch around
Fasten off.

 

White Spots:

Small:
Round 1: Make an adjustable ring and sc into it 6 times.
Round 2: 2 Sc in each sc around, fasten off leaving a tail long enough to sew spot onto cushion (12 sc)

Medium:
Round 1: Make an adjustable ring and sc into it 6 times.
Round 2: *2 Sc in each sc around (12 sc)
Round 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around; slip st in next sc, fasten off leaving a long tail (18 sc)

Large:
Round 1: Round 1: Make an adjustable ring and sc into it 6 times.
Round 2: *2 Sc in each sc around (12 sc)
Round 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (18 sc)
Round 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around; slip st in next sc, fasten off leaving a  long tail (24 sc)

X-large:
Round 1: Round 1: Make an adjustable ring and sc into it 6 times.
Round 2: *2 Sc in each sc around (12 sc)
Round 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (18 sc)
Round 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around
Round 5: *Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc * around; slip st in next sc, fasten off leaving a long tail (30 sc)

I made various amounts of each spot and sewed them haphazardly around the cushion. There’s really no wrong way to do it!

Finishing

Using yarn tails, sew the spots onto the cushion. I loosely stuffed my cushion and pinned the spots down before sewing to make sure I had them scattered around somewhat evenly. Take the bottom and top of the cushion and sc the pieces together around. When I was about halfway done with this step I began stuffing my cushion. I used a cheap fleece Ikea throw and 2 standard size bed pillows as stuffing but depending on size you may need more or less. At the halfway mark I went ahead and put in the Ikea blanket and 1 of the pillows. Continue to sc around until you are about ¾ done. Basically leave a hole just large enough to jam the rest of your stuffing into. Make sure to stuff your cushion VERY tightly. The fabric will grow quite a bit and the stuffing will spread out after a few uses so it will look the best when stuffed as firmly as possible to begin with. Continue to sc around, sl stitch in the first sc and fasten off. Give to your favorite woodland sprite. 🙂
